Things to do
Instow Beach offers a great setting for crabbing, kite flying and generally relaxing and enjoying North Devon’s beautiful scenery.
North Devon Cricket Club is situated in Instow and cricket is played here every season. The cricket ground is located through the sandhills car park and players often benefit from the brisk sea breeze!
Golf Courses near Nanny’s Cottage include Saunton Golf Club, a fabulous club with two championship courses, Royal North Devon Golf Club, the oldest golf course in the country, and Portmore Golf Park, a great course for beginners.
The BIG Sheep is an absolute favourite of ours and we highly recommend it! With lots of lovely animals to meet, exciting outdoor and indoor rides and activities and a range of live shows, it’s a guaranteed great day out!
Exploring Exmoor offers lots of great activities from enjoying a cream tea in beautiful gardens at Watersmeet, braving The Tarr Steps clapper bridge across the River Barle, to a fun-filled day at Exmoor Zoo at Combe Martin. Exmoor is also home to some of the darkest skies in the country so it’s a great place to gaze at the stars; make the most of the celestial show by visiting The Dark Sky Reserve at Exmoor National Park.
And for the not so sunny days:
Large children’s playground and park in Bideford.
Cinema and leisure centre with gym and swimming pool and Barnstaple.
The Milky Way adventure park – the largest all weather family day out in North Devon
Tarka Tennis Centre runs an extensive tennis programme for all ages & standards, you don’t have to be a member to play!
Or just put on the wellies and explore the beach and countryside!
